Mapping your Sectormentor samples with GPS helps you to navigate through the app when you’re out sampling, and visualise your site as an overview.

You can use use GPS mapping on Sectormentor even if you have no WiFI or phone signal, as long as you pre-load the map’s area on Sectormentor while you have signal or WiFi in advance of sampling, so the map itself has loaded and can then be stored offline.

📍 Adding the locations to your samples

  1. While out in the field, open the Sectormentor Phone app, and go to Samples.
  2. From the list, select the sample you want to add the location to. A sample in Sectormentor will generally have a specific location given in the naming, so you know the location to go to and add to the map!
  3. Go to the Map tab, and click the three dot icon in the top right corner.
  4. Select ‘Add location’ and move the map until the pin is in the location of your sample. Your current location will be shown as a blue dot. You may need to wait up to 30 seconds for the map to settle with the correct location!
  5. When you’re happy with the pin’s location, click ‘Done’ - your sample is then mapped, and you’re ready to start monitoring!
  6. Repeat these instructions for each sample site.

If you set the location to the wrong place, you can follow the same steps above to Update location, and correct the pin’s location.

Remember to Sync your mobile app, to save this new map data to your account when you’ve finished adding locations or recording data.
